Photo series #12 – Bali, real paradise?

After visiting Jakarta, Bandung and Kawah Ijen on the Java island, I boarded a ferry for Bali island.
Up until now, Bali sounded more like a honeymoon or an idyllic destination infested of tourists for me. Let’s just say that I wasn’t highly motivated for staying there.
In the taxi taking me to Ubud, I am quickly seduced by Balinese landscapes: sparkling green rice fields in terrace are amazing!

How about cooking some Cambodian food tonight?

For a change, no pictures or portrait, but a cooking class with some famous Cambodian recipes. During my stay in Battambang, I enjoyed taking a cooking course at Nary Kitchen, and the food we cooked was delicious!
The Khmer cuisine is based on rice, pork and chicken as well as fish, shrimp, frogs or clams. They also use coconuts, bananas, mangoes, limes, palm sugar, lemongrass, garlic, shallots and chili in their dishes.
So in this article I want to share the Amok fish recipe I learned.

Bats taking-off in Battambang, Cambodia

Direction slowly to the south of Cambodia, with a stop in Battambang, a city without a big interest where you can see some temples, the nice and typical countryside. For a hair in the wind moment and some little adventure, I went to the Bamboo train, a small train passing in the middle of nature, plantations, fields.
The more poetic moment were thousands of bats taking flight at nightfall from caves below the Phnom Sampeu temple.
